PREFACE

This 1st Edition of the Essential Works of the Marxist-Leninist-Maoist Classics has been compiled, translated and edited for publication by the International Publishing House in Switzerland.

The works of Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, V. I. Lenin, I. V. Stalin, Mao Zedong and Abimael «Gonzalo» Guzmán, the six classics of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism, are real theoretical weapons. If the Swiss working class were to become equipped with these weapons, it would be capable of turning them against its class enemies — imperialism, revisionism and the Swiss reactionaries — of becoming a powerful revolutionary force, of overthrowing the dictatorship of the capitalist class in our homeland, and of building a socialist and communist society. Therefore, it is of the highest importance that the Swiss proletarians arm themselves with the science of revolution that is Marxism-Leninism-Maoism.

Marxism-Leninism-Maoism is not a dogma, but a guide to action. The principles of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism are universally valid, but they must be integrated with the specific reality of each country and each revolution in order to become valid in practice. This process begins with studying the works of the Marxist-Leninist-Maoist classics themselves, studying them for the sole purpose of upholding, defending and applying their world outlook, class position and method and style of work in practice, in order to change the world.

In these Essential Works, we have included the most fundamental works of Marx, Engels, Lenin, Stalin, Mao and Gonzalo. These works are the most essential to grasp in order to grasp the general principles of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism. At the same time, these works are the stepping-stone to grasping the science of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism in its entirety and using it to change the world. The proletarian revolution is at the same time a process of changing the world and a process of changing oneself as part of a class — the modern working class, which is the only revolutionary class in society, the only class with the means to transform itself and the world as we know it, and creating a communist society without classes, States or patriarchy.

It is our hope that the publication of these Essential Works will thus contribute theoretically to the transformation of the Swiss proletariat from an objectively existing class into a class conscious of its own condition, interests and goals, a class armed with the theory of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism and organised under the directorship of its revolutionary vanguard — the Communist Party of Switzerland, which will be refounded in the next few years.
